Longtime Gambia Ruler Yahya Jammeh has finally left the country bringing to an end weeks of drama where he conceded defeat, the later rescinded the decision. Jammeh had been in power for 22-year. New President Adama Barrow will now go back to Gambia in the next few days to officially tale over the presidency.
Ecowas had launched military action to take down the dictator, but did so with caution so as to minimize casualties. The mission has been very successful since Jammeh finally accepted to leave the country. Gambians had celebrated the defeat of the dictator, then fled the country for fear of a civil war after Jammeh rescinded his decision to concede defeat. Senegalese families have been very generous to Gambians with thousands of them hosting Gambians for free in their houses. We take this time to congratulate all Gambians for their perseverance. Welcome to the new era. Democracy has finally won the day. Jammeh left the country on a private jet earlier today.
A coalition of West African nations troops (Ecowas) went into Gambia to forcibly remove Mr. Jammeh from office. Jammeh once vowed to rule for a billion years.Jammeh once vowed to rule for a billion years. Gambians are glad to hear that Mr. Jammeh is gone.
