Africa Updates is a news site that's dedicated to covering African News, including Technology, Sports, Business, and Entertainment among others. Africa Updates as an idea was born sometime around June 2007, when the domain was registered. In mid 2008, the founder then embarked on an almost 10 month long project building the site to the desired quality, before finally launching it in April 2009. The whole idea was also to create an Authentic African News site created and founded by and indigenous African, whose aim was to present African News, and content in a more positive light. One of Africa's problem has been not selling, and marketing itself more aggressively in a positive way. This has resulted in a perpetual negative perception of Africa, by mostly non-African news media. There's actually more good in Africa than bad. Africa is a beautiful continent full of good people, wonderful nature, minerals, awesome climate, lots of business opportunities, talented sportsmen and women, and many more.

How Africa Updates works
africaupdates.com gathers, and publishes news from thousands of sources in a user generated model. Users can upload all types of news, which we then cross check for quality and abusive content. Publishers can also use our platform to upload targeted content which then goes through our user generated voting mechanism (Push). If their content meets the site criteria, and garners the required number of votes, it's pushed automatically to the a site category or to the home page.
