Since its introduction in 2016, the “Fly Kenya” government policy prioritizing Kenya Airways for air travel by government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) has faced challenges in achieving full compliance. On Friday 7th, we held strategic deliberations with key government stakeholders to enhance the seamless adoption of the policy for government travel.
This engagement is a crucial step in our mission to foster stronger partnerships, build capacity for government travel agents, innovate solutions to support wider adoption, and develop mechanisms to facilitate the integration of the policy within government agencies.
Speaking during the breakfast meeting, our Chief Commercial and Customer Officer,
, noted, “This engagement reflects our shared commitment to the success of the 'Fly Kenya' policy." He added, "Our goal is to position
as the go-to partner for government travel management. By working closely with the government, we aim to deliver significant cost savings, enhance travel experiences for government officials, and support national economic growth."
Kenya Airways Reinforces Commitment to "Fly Kenya" Initiative
With our proposition to integrate FOTIMS (Financial and Operational Travel Information Management System) we are a step closer to enhancing transparency, efficiency, and adherence. FOTIMS will enable real-time data tracking, facilitate cost analysis, and simplify the travel booking process for government officials.
As, Arthur Osiya, Principal Administrative Secretary (PAS) in the Office of the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, remarked, “The government is committed to working closely with Kenya Airways to streamline processes and ensure seamless integration of the air travel policy. Fly Kenya positions the airline as a key enabler of efficient government service delivery; ensuring government officials have access to enhanced and affordable travel solutions.”
Nevertheless, we have demonstrated our commitment to this initiative through the launch of the Asante Executive Hub at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in September 2024. This dedicated hub offers government officials exclusive benefits including flexible booking options tailored to government needs, competitive fares to maximize cost efficiency, priority ticketing for seamless travel arrangements, and dedicated customer service support via the Asante Executive Hub.
Through continued engagement, we aim to strengthen collaboration with the Kenyan government to streamline policy implementation across all government agencies. This will not only improve uptake due to government endorsement but also enhance tracking and reporting, ultimately contributing to the growth of the national carrier and supporting broader economic development in the country.
