Monthly urban headline CPI inflation, published by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics on September 10, 2024, recorded 2.1 percent in August 2024 compared with 1.6 percent in August 2023 and 0.4 percent in July 2024. On an annual basis, urban headline CPI inflation recorded 26.2 percent in August 2024 compared with 25.7 percent in July 2024.

Monthly core CPI inflation, computed by the Central Bank of Egypt, recorded 0.9 percent in August 2024 compared with 0.3 percent in August 2023 and negative 0.5 percent in July 2024. On an annual basis, core CPI inflation recorded 25.1 percent in August 2024 compared with 24.4 percent in July 2024.
